When creating a digital collection one of the biggest considerations is in the area of copyright and whether permission is required to reproduce or use the objects you are including in your collection.  I recently came across a website that was very informative to me regarding this area.  The website is called the Copyright Advisory Network.  It was created by the American Library Association (specifically the ALA copyright subcommittee and the ALA office for information technology policy) with the express purpose of helping librarians determine issues and address concerns related to copyright.  This site is really a great resource with links to articles, websites, blogs, and other resources.

One of the of the tools that I found to be really neat is called the Digital Copyright Slider that allows users to quickly determine whether permission should be sought by using answer questions on a sliding scale.
